What Happened?
Many things have happened to cause the Alabama beach mouse to become endangered.
First off they have lost their dunes (which are their homes in their habitat) do to hurricanes. There is also lost of construction going on, on the beach. The construction goes on to build house but the houses are actually being built on top of their homes destroying them. The beach mice have also been effected by oil spills. One last reason why population has gone down is because of home cats around the area catching the mice.
This beach mouse was first listed as endangered on June 6th, 1985 . The population had gone down tremendously over the years.
