Why are they Endangered?
From our information the Sperm whales were hunted to almost extinction during the whaling era. They were hunted for meat, clothes, oil, fat, leather, perfume, soap (etc.). After the whaling era although it is illegal to hunt whales, some countries still hunt whale for their meat and other products. although scientists do not understand what the oil in the whales head (Spermaceti) does scientists have a theory, the oil in the whales head can help them dive deeper into the water.
reproduction is also a very slow process up to 2-4 years which makes it a very slow cycle to recover from the whaling era. (wildearthguardians.org) (8)
